When you come to visit UVa and the Charlottesville Icepark you will get to see where Dave Mathews started his career. Just outside the door of our home rink lie Miller's and Escafe Restaurants where Dave bartended and played in his very earliest days. This photo was taken by our team photograhper, Dan Grogan, when the band played at UVa's Scott Stadium in April of 2001. Coach Voisinet received front row, center seats and had a great time. Make sure you visit the Dave Mathews Band Fan Club and consider joining. Carter Beauford, the band's drummer, has one of our team jerseys!

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS - FIRST YEAR

In reading applications for admission to the first-year class, we value intellectual ability, academic achievement, and personal qualities that would contribute to the University community. In particular, we focus on the following credentials:

*    Excellent performance in a rigorous secondary-school program, including at least four units of English, four of college-preparatory mathematics, two of foreign language, one of social science, and two of science (from among biology, chemistry, and physics; engineering applicants must take three units of science, including chemistry and physics). These are minimum requirements; since most successful applicants exceed them, we recommend that candidates take the most rigorous academic program available in their school, including at least five academic courses each year and AP, IB, and honors courses whenever possible.

*    Results from the SAT I or the ACT. We use the highest score on each part of the SAT I and the highest composite score on the ACT.

*    Results from three SAT II Subject Tests, including Writing, Mathematics (either level), and a third test in a subject of your choice

*    Recommendation from the high school, usually from the guidance or college counselor. We encourage an additional recommendation from a teacher; we prefer that this recommendation be submitted with the application, not sent separately to the Office of Admission.

*    Completed application. The form consists of several parts; the Basic Application, School and Transcript Report, First-Year Supplement, and midyear Grade Report. Since the Basic Application opens the admission file, we recommend that candidates submit it as soon as possible in the fall of their senior year.

We neither require interviews nor use them in the evaluation process. Admission is need blind; that is, we consider candidates without regard to their financial circumstances. For requirements for transfer candidates, please see Transfer Admission.

Download 16 page 2001-2002 Team Program in .pdf Form

Works best with IE and Acrobat Reader 4.0 or Netscape with pdf viewer plug in. If you have IE and Acrobat Reader 5.0 highlight the link and hold down the mouse button (Mac) or right click (PC) and download the file Apparently there is no appropriate plug in viewer. sorry. You will need Adobe Acrobat Reader (free at www.adobe.com). This may take a while to download as it is a large file but well worth the time.
