Thinking of Retiring to
Charlottesville?
Charlottesville, Virginia
is a great place to live whether you are retired or not. I'lll tell
you why I like it.
There are many
reasons:
Climate-we have four
distinct and I think enjoyable seasons.Spring andFall could not be
better, the Winters are mild and Summer is long and invigorating save
for the 30-45 days of humidweather; it is not Hawaii after all.
Culture-The
University of Virginia, founded by Thomas Jefferson, is in
Charlottesville and thus we have worldclass libraries, concert
series, lectures on almost any subject by almost anyone you could
want, NCAA division 1 sporting events and one of the most beautiful
campuses (called the Grounds) you will see anywhere.
People-the
citizens of Charlotesville and Albemarle County come from all over
the world and you will find stimulating companionship and social life
here if that is what you value.
Proximity to urban
areas-if you want a slower
life-style but still need or want to be involved with larger urban
areas, Washington DC, Richmond,Virginia are only two and one hour
away respectively. New York City is reachable via daily commuter
flights from our new and modern airport, via Amtrak or you can drive
easily in about 7 hours. The Chesapeake Bay and the Atlantic Ocean are
only a few hours to the east and many locals keep their boats in
Deltaville, Virginia.
Health
Care-we have one of the
finest teaching hospitals and health care systems in the country at
the University
of Virginia Hospital and
Martha
Jefferson Hospital. You
and your doctor will be happy to know that should you need medical
assitance, the finest care is available to you and your loved ones
right in the center of town.
